These hand round dies are used to cut or restore external threads on correctly prepared rods, bolts and maintenance parts. The split adjustable design allows controlled fitting in a compatible die stock.
Correct preparation
- Confirm the required thread standard, diameter, pitch and tolerance.
- Prepare the bar slightly below the nominal major diameter as required by the process.
- Add a small lead chamfer so the die can start squarely.
- Use a compatible die stock and suitable cutting lubricant.
Operating guidance
Align the die perpendicular to the workpiece and apply balanced torque through both handles. Reverse periodically when appropriate to manage chips. Do not force a die that is misaligned or used on an oversized bar.
